20-years Anniversary
In 2006, Adam Aamann opened his first small deli in Østerbro with an ambition to give smørrebrød a well-deserved lift in quality.
Back then, smørrebrød was not something self-respecting chefs worked with. It had largely been taken over by the food industry.
Twenty years later, the story is very different.
Aamanns has helped give smørrebrød a new place on the gastronomic scene — with a focus on quality seasonal ingredients, craftsmanship, and an approach that elevates smørrebrød from classic open-faced sandwiches to modern servings.
Today, Aamanns spans restaurants and takeaway, corporate lunch solutions and events. What they all have in common is a respect for quality ingredients, a love of craftsmanship, and food that tastes like what it is made from.
And that is something we want to celebrate.
Throughout 2026, we will be shining a light on the first 20 years of Aamanns — with special smørrebrød from the archives, celebratory offers, and glimpses into the ideas and moments that have shaped us along the way.
We are looking back, but most of all, we are looking ahead. Because the ambition remains the same as it was in 2006: to continue renewing and refining classic Danish smørrebrød.
